A horn called over the crisp night air. The hour had come.
With a radiant glow about him, Aragorn son of Arathorn smiled at his two companions. "It is time."

Holding Arwen's hand in his, Lord Elrond turned when the sounding of the horn echoed in the air. The time had come for him to give his beloved child to another. Inwardly, he sighed, but knew it was the beginning of wonderful things for her. Someday she would have a child and would understand this moment from his perspective.
"Come, my child, if you are ready." He smiled warmly at her glowing face.

Slowly, the company of Elves walked from the room and down the many white marble halls of the King's House. Torchlight, warm and golden, gleamed off the polished walls, Arwen's gown glistening in the light. Her head was lifted, proud and regal, and her eyes shone, her smile yet painting her features as she and Elrond, Galadriel and the maidens who had helped her, descended the stone steps and came out into the cool air. People of all the free races of Middle-earth, arrayed in their finest; Men, Elves, Dwarves and Hobbits stood below them, their faces lifted to gaze upon her. She surveyed them all, yet her eyes were searching...seeking him...like a restless song, ever moving.

But I fear I have nothing to give...I have so much to lose here in this lonely place...tangled up in our embrace...there's nothing I'd like better than to fall... But I fear...I have nothing to give... I have so much to lose... I have nothing to give... We have so much to lose...

As his feet carried him near the entrance to the great hall, Aragorn donned the richly intricate crown. Upon his face beamed a glorious, irreplacible smile. This was it, the last facet of his dreams, the highest he ever longed to attain.
His world abuzz, the King strode to the grand courtyard, already beginning to fill with people.

A flash of gleaming silver caught her eye, and Arwen turned her gaze...and saw him. Joy filled her heart and her smile grew. There he stood, in all his kingly splendor, with the crown of his heritage upon his dark head - and his eyes shone just as brightly it seemed. I am here, beloved...

Never had there been a greater smile upon his face, nor a more brilliant glimmer in his eyes. He found himself chasing his breath as his eyes met hers, though it escaped him, his focus upon her alone. Amongst the throng of people, she could not be missed, the wonderous light that radiated from her drew his eyes, all of him taken in that moment.

It is at last time for us... Her smile was dazzling in the golden light of the sunset as she watched him, knowing that soon he would be beside her.
