Has anyone else seen this movie? Did you hate it's guts, love it, think it was okay?

I've seen it twice and I must say I do love it. It has some things I would have done differently, but I do love a dark, angsty story. Someone called Hayden Christiansen's acting wooden...I don't think so at all. I love how he acts. Especially when he's angry. ;-) But that might be just me.

I saw it at midnight on Wednesday. There were people dressed in costumes, and a Jedi and a Darth Vader got up in front of the theater and did a little duel. That was darn cool. Smiley

To be completely honest with you, Ruse, I saw it, and I didn't really like it. I thought the storyline was pretty weak - epecially after watching all 3 of the original movies about a week ago. After the other 2 new ones, I wasn't expecting much from this one, and I'm kinda glad that I didn't get my hopes up. Smiley What I was expecting was a more believable way Anakin would have turned to the Dark Side. He kinda randomly decided to be evil in _one_ scene. I always thought his betrayal to the others would have been more gradual - not take one second. And Padme's character was _weak_. Ugh. I couldn't take her seriously. I was actually kinda laughing when she was dying...or trying to be loving to Anakin. I know that sounds horrible, but really, guys... Smiley And when Obi-wan was trying too hard to be funny... Or in the beginning scene, when he's playing at the martyr...he seemed out of character most of the time. *shrugs*

The movie did answer a few questions I had after seeing the originals though. And I loved Yoda and R2D2 the best. They stole the show, as far as I'm concerned. The best part of the whole movie was when Yoda used the Force to knock 2 guards out when he walked into a room. Smiley That was the best. *heehee* Oh, and that green, feathery lizard thing that barked that Obi-wan rode was pretty awesome. I love that lizard! I want one.

Well, I'm done with my rant. Smiley I am glad that you enjoyed it, Ruse Smiley I really am, and I know a lot of people who did. But it just wasn't the movie for me.

I do see your points. But I do think Anakin's fall was gradual. I think it could have been more gradual, but he did see shades of darkness in Episode 2, and he was evidently under Ovaltine's influence. Still, I think that one scene would have gone more believable if Palpatine had said, "Join me...yadda yadda..." and then Anakin would have been confusdedly, "All...all right..." or something. But his bending on knees pledging his service I thought was overdone and not believable.

As far as Padme, well, pregnancy hormones and all. Smiley No really....she did have kids to live for...I dunno. I can't see someone's death just taking a new mother right out like that. Anakin's turning was sad, but you'd think motherly instinct would have compelled her to fight to live.

Obi was quite funny...perhaps too funny. Now, granted...I am the type that will say some sarcastic quip every 2 seconds myself, even in the direst of circumstances I'll at least think something funny, so to me he wasn't totally unbelievable (Old Ben was a bit of a cynic himself, even), but yeah...some of it...like that "We're smarter than this...how did this happen?" I thought was slightly clumsy.

Over all, I liked all three of the prequels. I don't think they're deep thinking movies, naturally, but then I don't think the original three are either, so it wasn't that huge of a letdown to me. Smiley But yeah...I understand some people not liking it.

So I'm guessing you won't be a Padme to my Anakin in the games? Smiley Smiley

PS: Mace Windu...thrown from a Window...I do hope George didn't intend that horrid pun. Smiley Smiley Smiley

Ovaltine? LOL That's great! That's the best thing I've ever heard. Smiley I don't know about the whole Anakin thing though... It just seemed kinda flat to me...

And that is one of the reasons why I think Padme was so weak! She died without thinking about her children. She just gave up! *grumbles* Some mother.

And about me being Padme in the games... Well, I've never played in the Star Wars universe before. Only LotR (as you well know Smiley) and Dragonriders of Pern. But I could give it a try if you would like me to, and see how I do Smiley

You're right...died without even thinking of those kids. I just don't get that at all. I heard a rumor so long ago that she was supposed to live and that Georgie was gonna write a book or something on how she died later on. That's what should have happened. She could have let Bail Organa take her, or taken refuge with Bail and died there somehow and it would have been totally believable. After all, Leia did seem to remember her mother (unless she was referring to Mrs. Organa...don't remember that scene enough to glean if she knew she was adopted or not).

RE: Playing in the games. Well, only if you wanna be her (we could play the original trilogy even, if you wanted). Only if you think you'd have fun. Heck, we could write the prequels how we would have liked them to happen...including Padme/Anakin or whoever. No reason we have to stay on canon like glue, unless the others are against it. (You can do non-canon and stay in character, which would be what I am proposing.)

But anyway, only if you think you'd have fun. Smiley I enjoy playing opposite you as always, so it wouldn't be a problem for me.

I think this could be fun, Ruse! Smiley Sure, I'll play Padme... hehe - I'll need a lot of background info about the politics and stuff behind everything... And I need to start exploring her character a little and try to get into her mindset of _who_ she really is...do you have any info that could help me out? Also, FYI, I fully intend to make her a more _stronger-willed_ and _smart_ and _capeable_ woman in these games Smiley

Hehehe...well, as far as politics goes, your guess is as good as mine. I don't even bother with real politics. Let's see.

She was the youngest queen elected, if I remember right. She was in some sort of legislative youth program. She was 14 in The Phantom Menace. In Ep2 the new queen at the time, Jamilla I believe, appointed her as senator to the republic. She represents Naboo on the galactic senate...I'm not sure what all that entails...probably the queens wishes for how other planets interact with Naboo.

Personality wise I thought she was pretty strong in Episode 2...and in Ep1 somewhat as well. Not much different than Leia, I don't think. She tended to excuse Anakin's worst sides more than should have been proper, though, telling him it was only human to feel how he felt, even after killing women and children (sand people).

My best suggestion is to watch the movies again, Episode 2 would be best I think to capture her. She was quite different in Ep3, true.

I can't recommend fic. Sowwy. I never venture into Ani/Ami stories. Hehehe. You might do well to do a "softened" Leia, perhaps. Padme does have a will all her own, but she'll give way if she thinks it appropriate or take charge if that's appropriate.

She believes strongly in democracy, in doing the right thing. (But can apparently be swayed by her heart where Anakin is concerned.) That's about all I can think of at this time. If you need further help I can try. :-)

I have to say that I loved this line:

"Only a Sith deals with absolutes."

Have to wonder about certain world leaders then dont we? I loved the movie. T'was great. I nearly cried twice, at weirdd points too. I cried when Obi and Ani started their duel and I cried when the Younglings got stabbded...

T'was a sad film. I loved it. Drooled over Obi as usuall. I lvoed the whole section at the beginning untill Ani started to go all: "I hate the council mer..."

I too drooled at every opportunity, at both Obi and Ani. Smiley

I teared up when the Jedi were getting killed...music really moves me...hehehe. And the music made that scene so sad. And the younglings. *sniff*

Man, I miss that movie. I just cannot wait for the DVD. I have GOT to get the soundtrack.
