Well, I believe there is a word for what is happening here: insane. I've been watching movie trailers for a long time. There has been a drout for a year since the final chapter of LotR of ground breaking films, or at least, films who's that will out-live their first six months on DVD. Granted, there were a few that came out last year that are worth mentioning, but a whole um... well in my book about 5 movies does not count. Now, this year... This year is far different, I believe.

When sitting in the theater, waiting in line to go in to see Sin City, I walked around and gazed at the posters (leaving Punkey to stand in line for a moment). I returned with only one thing to say: "Didn't you know? It's good movie season."

On the walls of the theater were the posters for Batman, War of the Worlds, Episode III, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and a set of vinal wall-scrolls of Sin City. Yeah. I think that may qualify it. Oh, and then when we turned the corner, the huge display for Kingdom of Heaven protruded from the wall.

Now, I needed a movie like Sin City, I really did. It's graphic and very much so in the style of movies in the mid-90s. It was refreshing to see so much style and attitude in one movie that was wonderful just to watch, but that wasn't the whole of it. When you see it in theaters, be sure to be there early enough for the trailers, they're killer. When you have an excuse to see Star Wars Episode III, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (the good trailer), and War of the Worlds in that order, I think it gets a bit overwhelming.

This year has some promising movies coming around. Maybe at last, something will emerge that will be remembered like Galdiator or A Beautiful Mind. There needs to be more masterpices like Lord of the Rings and (my #1 choice for last year) Finding Neverland. Who knows, it may be coming.

Finding Neverland was an excellent movie. I think it got robbed at the Oscars. But this movie season does seem better than the last. Last year I could get away with not having a car at college because there wasn't a lot of movies I wanted to go see. This year? I wish there was a movie theater showing recent releases in walking distance (Campus theatre does not count for showing movies about four to six months after their release).

I heard quite the opposital. if that is a word...

everyones saying theyre just making a bunch of dumb horror movies that try to hard to be scary and stick to simple dumb plots with a phew "catch-your-breath" suspension letdowns.

i didnt realize there were so many sci-fi movies coming out

I start on my major movie-fest next Saturday with Ringers: Lord of the Fans (the LotR fan documentary) and then I've got H2G2, then Kingdom of Heaven (*drool*), then my prep week for Episode III so that I can finish my costume.

Estel, when does Kindom of Heaven come out? I want to see it! OB is looking pretty yummy in that movie.

My mom went to Sim city with my dad, and, bless her heart, she was all mad about it. "It's all sex, drugs and killing people!" she said, when she called me as soon as she could. She and dad left the movie within the first 5 min of it and complained to the manager! I'm like, Glad I wasn't there!

*shakes head* I can't bring her in public! Smiley

hehe no, that's actually a common reaction for people who really aren't ment to see it! Kingdom of Heaven is out on May 6th. And in the case of OB, he looks eerily like a young Aragorn, but hey that could just be me seeing things. Yeah, its all so endlessly awesome though. He looks very tasty.

hehe ^.^ Yeah, its so mixed out there because a lot of people don't understand why its so violent. They like their movies 'fluffy and hapy' apparently 'cause that movie's really good.

heh, one of my friends did a movie review on it. It started with:

"A cute fluffy bunny hops onto the screen, surrounded in a field of flowers and butterflys...

Sorry to burt your bubble, but your in the wrong theater. Sin City has no bunnies..."

I wanted her to have a car come out of nowhere and squish the bunny. THat would have been funny....
