So, I'm not too clear as to why I've not said much about Ringers on here, but I've been freaking out about it for some time. Ringers: Lord of the Fans is a documentary about fans of Lord of the Rings that, unlike Trekkies shows love and compassion for the subject.
This last Saturday (4/23/05) it premired at the Newport Beach Film Festival, and I was fortunate enough to attend. Well, myself and a rather large group of crazy Ringers hung out outside of the theater from noon to 7:00 to just wait (because the tickets were pre-sale). There was trivia, singing, a costume competition, and even an appearance from Billy Boyd! It was awesome because a group of us sang the drinking song from the Green Dragon for him ^.^
Once we were in our seats, we were awed by the true masterpiece that began with only two crazy interviewers from The One Ring . Net (TORn) and blossomed into a tribute to Tolkien, PJ, and all the fans out there.
I give it a 6 out of 5 (but I'm a bit bias - I'm in it)
Here's some random pics from the event:
